Pragmatic? My Ass…N Apple Red
Do you notice that, we Chinese love to complain? If you read Chinese newspaper, (which I don’t because I am a farking banana! I only speak the language, cannot read and write except for my own name and some common words), you will read about reports, articles complaining about this and that, everything under the sun. And if you talk to your Chinese friends, they will complain about the traffic, the road, the food, the price and their favourite topic is the government. How corrupt the government, the police, the civil servants and they could talk about it forever. Bluntly said, we have here an apathetic community that keeps whinging about how badly they are discriminated against but are not proactive about improving their lot. They only “jaga periuk nasi sendiri’. When you ask them what they are going to do about it? Most of them, it is safe to say 90% of them will reply ‘What to do.. cannot do anything about it lah..As long as we can cari makan ok lah..Better stay out of troubles and wait for a change to migrate.” And they will continue to tell you that Chinese are pragmatic people, down to earth. ‘Why waste time fighting for something that you couldn’t change’ And they will add in something along the line ‘At least the Chinese concentrate on survival’.
So what is ‘pragmatic’?? I think it’s a bombastic word, but it means nothing but… it is just another word for ‘gutless’ or ‘going with the flow for the sake of survival’. Which also can be said that, pragmatic is also another way of saying.. ‘got no balls’..or ‘pussified’. It’s time to stop being a pussy and start playing balls.. yes, you!

It is good. But too much of the “good” can also lead to something which is “bad”. Actually, I dont have any point(s) to say here. Just singgah-singgah.. 🙂 Tapi, your words make me feel … indescribable la. As if the Malays are really jahat to the Chinese. Is it?
A lot of people were saying that racism is a big issue in Malaysia. Malaysia has racial quotos in everywhere be it in the education, property, housing, business and ect, for Bumiputras and Non-bumiputras.. The worst part is this: Those “ground” people get the most.. Malay=ground people? Hmm..
Y’know I don’t really feel the heat of racism in Sarawak. I’m being honest here. Sometimes I do feel mad with the kaya-kaya Chinese in Miri because I feel that, they tryna conquer everything in Sarawak especially Miri la (hehe envious actually), BUT I need to admit that they are the people who “made” Miri, they helped the Bumis, and they hired them. But the situation in Semenanjung is different. Too much politic, I can say.
The best thing about the Chinese is their hard work la. I really adore it. Not many of Malays have that rajin-ness. Hahah! But insha Allah, I will.
yup, i love sarawak for the unity and closeness there. it’s more divided here and when i first came here to study, well, quite a shock to me.. 🙂 people here don’t mix with each other very well. they stick to their own race, own group. very hard to find a group of people in different colors sit together, lepak lepak here..

Totally agree…I remember during my 1st year uni, we were asked to fill survey forms asking ‘adakah anda lebih suka belajar dengan kaum sendiri atau dengan kawan berlainan bangsa’..?? Apa ni? I never thought racism such an issue till I went study in Penisula..still, I mixed well with my hostel friends, doesnt matter they are Malays, Bumis or Chinese..and we are very good friends till now 😀
N I do proud of our Sarawakians for the close relationships we had among races…One in the million I must say 🙂

Never thought about racism issue in Sarawak… Suddenly when i studied in Uni. OMG!… Hanya orang Sarawak+Sabah aja bergaul sama. Other just joining their own flock!!!
Yeah (^_^) proud i’m Sarawak! only here, we can have Chinese neighbour whom will volunteer to safe-guard our home when we are celebrating our Gawai in Kampong and not so fussy malay friend whom can accept our identity!

wah… i must be terkejut suddenly so many sarawakians saying out loud about this 😀 yeah, pretty sad, we are still divided after so long.. and only under false pretense that we live in harmony. it’s so funny when having open houses = racial unity. that’s a big smelly crap. it’s bigger than that, it’s about caring and sharing. (lol i sounded a bit off here… hehe…)

lily : guess most sarawakians feel a bit out of place when they came over peninsular to study and notice the difference here. I mean, my chinese friends asked me ‘Er, why you hang out with the Malays?’
